NEW DELHI: The Group of Ministers set up to make GST composition scheme more attractive today suggested lowering tax rates for manufacturers and restaurants under the plan to 1 per cent. At present, while manufacturers pay GST at 2 per cent, the rate for restaurants is 5 per cent.

AG opposes Jaypee plan in Supreme Court


NEW DELHI: Attorney General KK Venugopal on Tuesday strongly opposed in the Supreme Court a proposal by Jaiprakash Associates to hive off the Yamuna expressway to a Singapore-based company to raise Rs 2,000 crore it had been asked to deposit to meet refund demands by homebuyers for projects.

GST collections at Rs 92,150 crore in September


The government has collected Rs 92,150 crore as Goods and Services Tax (GST) in September from 42.91 lakh businesses, the finance ministry said today. Of this, Rs 14,042 crore is on account of Central GST, while State GST is to the tune of Rs 21,172 crore.
